It is best for the first orthodontic visit to be made by age 7. By that time, the incisors and the first permanent molars should be in and a child can be evaluated for a number of possible problems, such as crossbites, crowding, open or deep bites, protrusion, underbites, spacing problems or oral habits (like thumb sucking). All of these are possible reasons for early treatment.
Most of the patients seen at that age 7 visit will NOT require any early treatment. For those that do, Dr. Fornero will explain the possible treatment and what the benefits will be. Anything that is done in early (or Phase I) treatment is intended to make later full treatment easier, shorter, or able to get a better result. Please schedule your appointment as soon as possible with Fornero Orthodontics.
